SummerDaze Day Camp is part of the evangelization and youth ministry at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Rexdale.  St. Benedict Catholic Church is served by the Salesian Fathers and Brothers of St. John Bosco and SummerDaze uses St. John Bosco’s “Preventive System” as a guide to all aspects of our program.

SummerDaze is for boys and girls from age 7 (Completed Gr. 1) to 14(gr.8), and runs from 9am to 4pm daily.  We offer sports, games, singing, arts and crafts, drama, and much more, all in a safe Catholic Christian environment.  Most activities occur at St. Benedict and in the neighbouring schools and parks.

We begin each day with prayer and celebrate the Eucharist together each Friday and offer reconciliation twice during the summer season.  Other catechetical instruction occurs throughout the time in small joyful segments through storytelling, drama, sharing, and generally in the way we do things at camp. 

However, our real strength is in our staff and volunteers, who model and promote playing fair, being sensitive, compassionate, and forgiving, who spend time with the campers and make them feel important and loved.  We are reverent when its time to be reverent, and exceptionally joyful all the time.  This is where “reason, religion, and loving-kindness” as Don Bosco described them, occur at SummerDaze, in our time together, playing and having fun.  SummerDaze is our attempt to recreate the oratory of St. John Bosco, in Rexdale.
